Aims Consorzio per la Tutela del Formaggio Grana Padano is a non-profit making organisation with a range of essential duties. A Ministerial Decree regarding Agricultural and Forestry Policies passed on 24th April 2002 recognised its work and bestowed it with the legal powers invested in all such consortiums. These powers encompass the protection, promotion and enhancement of a product, as well as consumer information and general care for any interests regarding its designation, not to mention a hand in the supervision, protection and safeguarding of its D.O.P. status from infringements, unfair competition, imitations, improper use of its designation and any other behaviour forbidden by law in each phase of its production, transformation and sale.

The aims of Consorzio per la Tutela del Formaggio Grana Padano are not only commercial, but also ethical in that it strives to turn natural ingredients into a wholesome product. The age-old history of Grana Padano cannot be measured by its organisation, efficiency and sales alone as it is being written every day by the individual efforts and skills of the people who produce, mature and sell this cheese.
