 Dietetic properties and nutritional value

Grana Padano dates back almost one thousand years and is a blend of human craftsmanship and natural goodness. It also has some interesting qualitative and nutritional properties that make it ideal for the human body throughout its entire life span. 30 g of cheese contain the nutrition of half a litre of milk; indeed, 15 litres of milk are required to make 1 kg of Grana Padano. It is, therefore, a complete product which has the requisites for a modern, balanced diet.

It is easy to digest and has a special chemical composition, which make it ideal for new-born babies, athletes, elderly people, anyone who is going through a life adjustment, such as convalescence, pregnancy or breast-feeding, and adolescents during the delicate period of their development.

A small sliver of Grana Padano (about 30 g) contains the nutritional values of half a litre of milk. This milk is also top quality, and after processing the cheese is ripened for at least nine months. During this time, the humidity level drops from 33.72% in a 10-month cheese to 31.26% in a cheese ripened for 19 - 20 months.
The salt content (sodium chloride) also varies as Grana Padano ages: if the average value is 1.6 g per 100 g of product, over time the concentration increases from 1.14 to 2.20%.
