Vitamins and Minerals. The Importance of Calcium.

Grana Padano is an excellent source of vitamins and minerals. It contains an almost complete range from the vitamin alphabet: A, B1, B2, B6, B12, D3, PP and E.
Grana Padano contains higher amounts of B12, which promotes growth, than most other foods; 50 g cheese provides 75% of the human body’s recommended daily amount.
Calcium is its most abundant mineral; 100 g Grana Padano contain 1.165 g calcium, which covers an adolescent’s requirements and exceeds an adult’s recommended daily amount.

It is, therefore, a key factor in the diets both of young people as it creates strong, healthy bones, and of elderly people because it slows the decalcification process, which is already extenuated if the right amount of calcium is consumed at a young age.

Grana Padano also contains high levels of phosphorus, which develops learning capacities, has excellent elastic properties, and stimulates the biochemical processes that generate energy. If the skeleton is to develop properly, the calcium/phosphorus ratio within our daily diet must be approximately one unit.
Grana Padano has a calcium/phosphorus ratio of 1.7, hence providing both young and old with an essential set of dietetic requirements and compensating for the poorer contribution of the many other products we eat everyday.
